OUR
TERMINAL
GERMANY'S
LARGEST
WIND ENERGY HUB
Since its establishment in 2016, the Blue Water BREB Terminal, a joint venture between Denmark's Blue Water Shipping and BREB, has rapidly developed into the largest wind energy hub on the German coast. Each year, the terminal handles more than 5,000 components representing over 5 GW of turbine capacity. Its operations focus on port and production logistics for both onshore and offshore wind energy projects.
A substantial proportion of the components used in onshore wind turbines installed in Germany are discharged at our quays. For the Siemens Gamesa turbine manufacturing facility in Cuxhaven, the terminal receives and delivers major components from various manufacturers, while finished products are loaded onto specialised vessels for onward transport.
Its location at the mouth of the River Elbe, close to the offshore wind farms of the North Sea, makes Cuxhaven a key installation port for the offshore wind industry. To support this role, Blue Water BREB has secured one of the two concessions to operate the new offshore port currently under construction.
The terminal benefits from dedicated port infrastructure, including heavy-lift storage and handling areas, offshore quays and multimodal hinterland connections. From its base in Cuxhaven, BREB focuses on chartering, freight contracting and project cargo operations, with particular emphasis on industrial and maritime logistics.
BREB has supported transport and port operations since the early stages of Germany's offshore wind industry, including acting as general agent for wind farm operators during the construction and operation of offshore wind farms.
